Favorite Music: 2012

Here at Stompbox Sonic, we don’t just provide the tools to make music, we are active musicians ourselves. And of course we enjoy many of the albums and EPs released each year. Here is a selection of my personal favorites from 2012.

Your Reflection- Electric Indian (Symbol Heavy)

I had the good fortune to add some surrealistic fuzz and other guitar related bits to this Kansas City-based psychedelic funk opus. Luke Rocha and Michael Hutcherson are the brains behind the project. Michael also built this here Stompbox Sonic website and snapped a good deal of the product pics. This album functions on two levels, it provides the perfect fuel for the dance floor and for watching your black light posters come to life. For fans of: beats, analog synthesizers or the cosmos.

Now that that little bit of self-promotion is out of the the way, here are some of the auditory highlights of 2012. I was going to write a bit about each album but I’ll just let a song from each release do the talking:

Chelsea Wolfe –Unknown Rooms: A Collection Of Acoustic Songs (Sargent House)

Ryan Lee Crosby –Ryan Lee Crosby (self released)

Various Artists –In Pleasant Company: A Mixtape for Jason (Future Recordings)
